DAY 1: GUWAHATI – SHILLONG : Check-in at Hotel
Welcome to Shillong, Shillong is also called Scotland of the East. While traveling we see the majestic Umiam Lake (Barapani) surrounded by sylvan hills and wrapped in the beauty of an assortment of green Khasi-pines and the azure blue skies. Evening you can visit some places of interest and the local market Police Bazar.
DAY 2: SHILLONG – CHERAPUNJEE (56 Kms drive from Shillong)
Places to see in Cherrapunjee :
Dympep View Point: It is natural valley located at the very start of the Sohra circuit and one of the prominent attractions from where tourists can enjoy the natural beauty of the valley.
Nohsngithiang Falls: A waterfall which gets illuminated by the sun from dawn to sunset.
Mawsmai Cave: It is the only lighted cave in the State and it has an impressive formation of large passages and chambers.
Thangkharang Park: This Park is being laid on the high rocky cliffs which overlooks the plain of Bangladesh.
Khohramhah: A massive rock formation in the shape of a giant cone presenting an incredible spectacle along with the views of the Sylhet plains of Bangladesh.
Ramkrishna Mission: An institution that catches the eye of everyone while entering Cherrapunjee. It is also an important landmark which overlooks the beauty of Cherrapunjee.
Nohkalikai Falls: It is one of the highest waterfalls in India which reminds one of the tragic legend in Sohra.
DAY 3: SHILLONG – MAWLLYNNONG VILLAGE - DAWKI (92 Kms drive from Shillong).
Mawllynnong village is also referred as ‘God’s own garden.’ Mawlynnong Village has earned the distinction of being the cleanest village in India.:
Places to see in Mawllynnong :
Village Point : At the point of divergence, there is a beautiful sandy shore .
Living Root Bridges: These bridges are made from the roots of a Ficus Elastica tree and are mostly preferred by trekkers. Often there are foreign delegation visiting this place to enjoy the trekking.
Sky View Point : It’s a bamboo and cane structure that offer a bird’s view to the village and Indo-Bangladesh border. Bamboo canes are tied together with the help of cane ropes to make a sky pathway.
Dawki : Dawki also known as Dauki, is a town located in west Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya between India and Bangladesh border. It is really hard to ignore the crystal clear water of the Umngot River of this town. Boat ride in this pristine river is a major tourist attraction.
DAY 3: SHILLONG – Local sightseeing
Places to see in Shillong :
Ward’s Lake: A manmade lake situated in the heart of the city surrounded by a garden of flowers and pine trees and also popular for boating.
Cathedral (Mary Help of Christian Churches): This Cathedral is being named after Mary (Mother of Jesus Christ) and it was built by the Germans in the year 1913.
Golf Course: Also known as the ’Glen Eagle of the East’, Golf Course is a natural 18 hole course and the second oldest in India.
Don Bosco Museum: A museum with a unique fusion of all North Eastern states under one roof.
Shillong Peak: It has an impressive height of 1962 m and the highest point of Shillong. It offers a panoramic
view of the city, waterfalls, Himalayan peak, lush green.
Elephant Falls: Named after an Elephant like stone at its foot, the Elephant Falls are amongst the most popular falls in the North-East, situated next to Shillong and it’s famous as a tourist spot.
DAY 4: SHILLONG – Guwahati (End or Tour)
